The short version

  • The Padres swept the Cubs 8-0 and 4-1 at Petco Park on September 29-30, 2026, and open the NLDS in Milwaukee on Saturday, October 3, at 5:30 p.m. PT on FS1.
  • As of October 3, 2026, padres.com says no 2026 postseason watch parties are scheduled at Petco Park, unlike the $5 Gallagher Square parties in 2024 and 2025.
  • Tom's Watch Bar at 815 J Street overlooks Petco Park and says it shows every Padres game with the sound up.
  • Regular-season games are produced by the team as Padres.TV: Cox channel 83, Spectrum 305 or 443, or streaming at $19.99 a month or $99.99 a season.
  • Radio is 97.3 The Fan in English and XEMO 860 La Poderosa in Spanish.

This is for anyone who wants Padres baseball with a crowd but without a ticket: road games, sold-out playoff nights, or just a Tuesday in July. Every bar here was checked against its own website or 2026 listings, and we only say a place is a Padres bar when a publication or the team says so. If you would rather stay home, the TV and radio section at the end covers the 2026 setup, which changed after the old Bally Sports deal ended.

1. Gallagher Square watch parties (not scheduled for 2026, yet)

For the last two Octobers, the team opened Gallagher Square, the park-within-the-park beyond the outfield, for road playoff games. In 2024 the Dodgers NLDS games played on the 75-foot videoboard on the Sycuan Stage for $5 a ticket, with kids under 36 inches free. In 2025 the same $5 setup returned for the Cubs Wild Card games, with gates opening an hour before first pitch through the East Village and Balboa gates and a four-ticket limit per household. As of October 3, 2026, padres.com says no 2026 postseason watch parties are scheduled. That can change fast in October, so check padres.com/watchparty before you head downtown.

2. The Petco Park bar strip: Bub's and Tom's Watch Bar

Bub's @ the Ballpark (715 J St) is the classic. San Diego Magazine calls it less than a block from Petco and says it screens all Padres away games; Locale Magazine says it feels like an extension of left field. Expect it to be loud and packed on game nights. Tom's Watch Bar (815 J St, Suite 101) is the newer, bigger option, announced in 2025 with room for more than 400 guests. It overlooks Petco Park, takes reservations and says it shows every Padres and MLB playoff game with the sound on. The drawback: it is a chain, and it feels like one.

3. Open-air and beer-hall options in the Gaslamp

The Deck at Moonshine Flats (335 6th Ave) is an outdoor bar with cornhole, shuffleboard and bucket cocktails. It normally opens Thursday through Sunday but adds Monday and Tuesday hours for Padres home games, and it is all-ages with a guardian until 7 p.m. Nason's Beer Hall (570 J St, inside the Pendry) has 24 taps and a weekday happy hour from 3 to 5 p.m.; it is calmer and pricier than Bub's. barleymash (600 Fifth Ave) is the big-screen Gaslamp sports bar if the others are full.

4. The team's own 2026 partner list

With no Petco watch parties set, padres.com points fans to partner locations: Sycuan Casino Resort, Ballast Point Little Italy, AleSmith Tasting Room Miramar, Cutwater Tasting Room, Novo Brazil Brewing, Stone Brewing Tap Rooms, Coronado Brewing Company and Pizza Port. These are the closest thing to an official away-game gathering. Stone, Coronado Brewing and Pizza Port have several locations, so pick the one nearest you.

Ballast Point Little Italy (2215 India St) has patios and planes overhead from the airport next door. AleSmith (9990 AleSmith Ct, Miramar) is the Tony Gwynn brewery, maker of the .394 pale ale, and its tasting room is family and dog friendly with TVs and food trucks. Cutwater (9750 Distribution Ave, Miramar) is the canned-cocktail maker's tasting room with a kitchen. Novo Brazil Mission Valley (1640 Camino Del Rio N, Suite 341) has 64 taps and 100 feet of LED video walls, per San Diego Magazine. The drawback for all four: they are breweries first, so on a regular-season night the game may be on without the sound.

5. Neighborhood Padres bars

McGregor's Bar & Grill (10475 San Diego Mission Rd) is a Grantville Irish pub in its 30th year, open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and 21 and over only; Locale Magazine lists it among the city's Padres bars. In La Jolla, Nautilus Tavern (6830 La Jolla Blvd, Suite 103, Bird Rock) was singled out by San Diego Magazine for Padres game-day specials. For more neighborhood choices across sports, see the best sports bars in San Diego.

6. Visiting fans, including Dodgers fans

We could not find a reliable source naming a dedicated Dodgers or Brewers bar in San Diego, so we won't invent one. General guidance: the big downtown watch bars draw a Padres crowd, and wearing road colors there during a playoff series is a choice. Bars built around a specific out-of-town team tend to be friendlier ground for that team's fans, and our sports bars guide covers several. On a Padres-Dodgers night, expect any bar near Petco to be firmly Padres.

How to watch at home in 2026

After Diamond Sports (Bally Sports San Diego) stopped carrying the team, the Padres moved to a team-branded broadcast distributed through MLB's local media arm. For 2026, Padres.TV presented by UC San Diego Health produces the games, with Don Orsillo on play-by-play and Mark Grant as analyst. Some games are national exclusives on Apple TV, ESPN, FOX, NBC or Peacock instead.
