SAN DIEGO TIPS

Which San Diego restaurants have the best views, and what do they cost?

5 min read Checked November 3, 2026 Report a correction

For ocean views, book The Marine Room or George's at the Cove in La Jolla, or Jake's in Del Mar. For the bay and downtown skyline, book Mister A's on a 12th floor in Bankers Hill, the Harbor Island row (Island Prime, C Level, Coasterra, Tom Ham's Lighthouse), Peohe's in Coronado or Brigantine at Portside Pier. Posted dinner entrées run from $24 at Tom Ham's to $79.50 at Mister A's, and in November the sun sets just before 5pm, so book early.

The short version

  • Sunset in San Diego is 4:56pm on Nov 3 and 4:42pm on Dec 7, 2026 (U.S. Naval Observatory), so a 'sunset dinner' in winter means a 4–4:30pm table.
  • Mister A's dinner entrées run $36.50–$79.50 plus a 4% surcharge; valet is $20 and the dress code is business casual.
  • George's at the Cove dinner entrées run $28–$52 plus a 5% surcharge, and it serves a cheaper menu 2–5pm daily.
  • The Marine Room's High Tide dinners (four courses, $165) ran in June, July and August 2026; the regular dining room is open Wed–Sun 5–9:30pm.
  • Tom Ham's, Coasterra, C Level and Brigantine Portside Pier appear on both There San Diego's view list (2025) and OpenTable's waterfront list (2026).

We started from two named lists, There San Diego's 'Best Restaurants in San Diego With a View' (September 2025) and OpenTable's waterfront restaurants page (reviews through fall 2026). Then we checked each restaurant's own site on November 3, 2026 for hours, entrée prices and reservation notes. If a place didn't post prices, we say so instead of guessing. We left out places we couldn't confirm.

How can you get a waterfront view in San Diego for less?

  • Go at happy hour. George's has $18 snack-and-drink pairings daily 2–5pm, C Level has $11 cocktails and appetizers weekdays 3:30–5:30pm, and Peohe's runs weekdays 3–5:30pm. Full list: best happy hours.
  • Book a weekend brunch instead. Mister A's brunch dishes are $13.50–$47.50, and shorts are allowed with a collared shirt (Sat–Sun 10am–1:30pm).
  • Count the surcharge. George's, Coasterra and Tom Ham's add 5% and Mister A's 4% before tip. Coasterra says you can ask to have its fee removed. More in restaurant surcharges.
  • Take the ferry to Peohe's. It sits at the Coronado Ferry Landing, so the boat ride is part of the view. Times and fares: Coronado ferry.
  • Watch holiday hours. Coasterra, C Level and Island Prime all say to call for holiday hours.
