Where to watch your college football team in San Diego: the alumni bars, school by school

If you moved here from Columbus, Ann Arbor or Iowa City, Saturday mornings feel strange: kickoff is at breakfast and nobody around you is wearing your colors. The fix is your school's alumni club. Most big programs have a San Diego chapter with an official bar that opens early and turns on the sound. Every pick below comes from the club's own page, the alumni association's 2026 watch-party list or the venue's own site, checked October 3, 2026. Where the newest proof is older, we say so.

Big Ten: Ohio State, Michigan and Iowa

Ohio State. The Ohio State Alumni Club of San Diego uses two bars. Downtown is American Junkie (638 Fifth Ave, Gaslamp). North County is Oggi's Del Mar (12840 Carmel Country Rd, Carmel Valley), the club's partner for more than 10 years, which the club calls low-key and family-friendly, with free parking in the lot next door. The club says both open early for every Buckeye game, 'especially important for our 9 a.m. games.' The drawback downtown: booths and tables go first to bottle-service reservations, then first come, first served. The club suggests the Park It On Market garage nearby. Michigan. The U-M Club of San Diego lists 2026 watch parties at The Local (809 Thomas Ave, Pacific Beach) and Tower 13 (2633 S Coast Hwy 101, Cardiff), all season long. Pick by where you live: PB for the city, Cardiff for North County. U-M Club Football Saturdays.

Iowa. The Iowa Club directory lists Pacific Beach Alehouse (721 Grand Ave) and CoLab Public House (2129 Industrial Ct, Vista). CoLab does 'select game watches,' so check the San Diego Iowa Club Facebook group for which games. PB Alehouse opens at 10 a.m. on Saturdays per its own site, so for a 9 a.m. kickoff confirm with the club that it's opening early. Iowa Club game watches.

Big Ten: Penn State, USC, Oregon and Nebraska

Penn State. The Penn State Alumni Association San Diego chapter runs three spots for 2026: Knotty Barrel (844 Market St, East Village), Maverick's Beach Club (860 Garnet Ave, Pacific Beach) and American Heroes & Brews (300 Carlsbad Village Dr, Carlsbad). Maverick's is only used for earlier games, such as 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. kickoffs. PSAA San Diego events.

USC. Guava Beach Bar & Grill (3714 Mission Blvd, Mission Beach) calls itself an official watch-party location of the USC Alumni Association and home to the USC Alumni Club of San Diego. Guava Beach USC page.

Oregon. The San Diego Ducks moved to Whiskey Girl (702 Fifth Ave, Gaslamp) for 2026 and host every game from September 5 to November 28 except the Oklahoma State game. The UO Alumni Association says its watch parties are free with no registration, you can scan a QR code to enter a season-end drawing for a football signed by Dan Lanning, and some venues are 21+. Nebraska. We couldn't find a 2025 or 2026 club listing. The best we have: San Diego Magazine called The Duck Dive (4650 Mission Blvd, Pacific Beach) 'a certified Nebraska Husker bar' in May 2024. The Duck Dive is open and its site lists 9 a.m. Saturday opening. Treat it as a good bet, not a guarantee, and check with the Nebraska Alumni Association's watch-site finder.

SEC: Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn

Alabama. San Diego Bama Fans calls The Smoking Gun (555 Market St, East Village) its official gathering place for every game, with a 2026 schedule posted and a table-reservation form on the club site. The Alabama National Alumni Association's 2025 list names the same bar. San Diego Bama Fans.

Georgia. The UGA Alumni Chapter of San Diego splits between The Pennant (2893 Mission Blvd, Mission Beach) and The Rabbit Hole (3377 Adams Ave, Normal Heights), with October 2026 games listed at both. Parties 'begin at or before kickoff.' UGA San Diego chapter calendar.

LSU. The LSU Alumni Association's 2026 watch-party list puts San Diego at Players Sports Grill (5225 Kearny Villa Rd, Kearny Mesa). The bar's own website showed nothing when we checked, so call ahead before you go. LSU watch parties.

Texas A&M. The Aggie Network lists San Diego County watch parties at Offshore Tavern + Grill (2253 Morena Blvd) for the full 2026 schedule, from Missouri State on September 5 through Texas on November 27. Aggie Network watch parties.

Auburn. Auburn's alumni watch-party map lists the San Diego club at Cardiff Beach Bar at Tower 13 (2633 S Coast Hwy 101, Cardiff). That's the same bar Michigan uses, so on a weekend when both play at the same time, expect a split room. Auburn California watch parties.

Big 12: Colorado, Arizona and Arizona State

Colorado. Forever Buffs San Diego hosts at Union Kitchen & Tap Encinitas (1108 S Coast Hwy 101, free lot) for all games, and at The Sandbox Pizza (1466 Garnet Ave, Pacific Beach) for select 2026 games. Both start 30 minutes before kickoff. CU game watches.

Arizona. The BeachCats move around. In November 2025 they watched at Bully's East in Mission Valley; their September 2026 events were at alumni-owned Crust Pizzeria (124 S Solana Hills Dr, Solana Beach). Check the UA alumni events page each week. BeachCats event.

Arizona State. ASU San Diego says it watches all season at Hasta Mañana Cantina (310 Fifth Ave, Gaslamp). The restaurant was listed for sale in May 2026, but its owners told SanDiegoVille they are not closing. ASU San Diego.

ACC and the home team: Florida State and San Diego State

Florida State. The Seminole Club of San Diego used two locations in 2025; the one we could confirm is Weir Beer (1250 Keystone Way, Vista), a brewery that hosted the November 29, 2025 game. This is as of the 2025 season, so confirm on the club's Instagram or Facebook. FSU calendar event.

San Diego State. For the Aztecs, skip the bar and go. SDSU plays in the Pac-12 this season, and the remaining 2026 home games at Snapdragon Stadium are October 3 vs. Texas State (7:30 p.m.), October 17 vs. Fresno State (homecoming, 7:30 p.m.), October 31 vs. Washington State (4 p.m.) and November 14 vs. Utah State (6:30 p.m.). Schools we looked for but couldn't confirm

• —Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Texas, Washington, UCLA, Michigan State: clubs exist, but we couldn't find a current San Diego bar on an official page.
• —Clemson: the San Diego Clemson Club's last listed viewing parties at Union Kitchen & Tap Gaslamp were in 2019 and 2020.
• —Everyone else: search your alumni association's site for 'game watch' plus San Diego, or ask the club on Facebook or Instagram. Many clubs post the bar only on social media.

No club for your school? Go where every game is on

Tom's Watch Bar (815 J St, East Village, across from Petco Park) opens at 9 a.m. on Saturdays and is built around oversized screens, so it works for a 9 a.m. kickoff when you just need your game on a TV. Union Kitchen & Tap Encinitas already shows every Colorado game and is a solid North County backup. The Duck Dive in Pacific Beach also opens at 9 a.m. on weekends. Most of these bars are in Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and the Gaslamp, with North County options in Encinitas and Carlsbad. If you're still picking a place to live, being near your club's bar is a fair tiebreaker.
