The Baby Grand, 31 rooms

The short version

  • Hotel del Coronado adds a $50 nightly resort fee and charges overnight guests $59 to self-park, so budget about $109 a night on top of the room.
  • The Baby Grand, CH Projects' 31-room hotel at 1315 Orange Avenue, opened May 14, 2026, with rooms from about $350 a night.
  • Crown City Inn and 1906 Lodge both include free parking, which on Coronado is worth $50 or more a night.
  • Loews Coronado Bay Resort sits about 5 miles down the Silver Strand and runs a free shuttle to downtown Coronado every 30 minutes until 9 p.m.
  • San Diego County closed the Coronado shoreline through North Beach on September 8, 2026, because of Tijuana River sewage. Check sdbeachinfo.com before you book a beach trip.

Coronado is small, so the real choice is less about the hotel than about where on the island you wake up. This list covers ten places to stay in three zones: the stretch of Orange Avenue near The Del and the beach, the north village and bay front near the ferry, and the Silver Strand. Every hotel here was confirmed operating in 2026, and fees and parking come from each hotel's own site where it publishes them.

1. Hotel del Coronado, Shore House and Beach Village

1500 Orange Ave. The Del is the reason many people come to Coronado, and it sits directly on Coronado Central Beach. The 1888 Victorian building finished a $550 million, six-year restoration in summer 2025. The resort is really several hotels in one: the Victorian, the newer Cabanas and Views buildings, Shore House (opened 2022, one- to three-bedroom residences with full kitchens and their own oceanfront pool) and Beach Village, a gated enclave of cottages and villas. Rates run from sometimes under $400 to over $6,000 a night depending on section and season, so it is firmly $$$$ most of the year. Best for a first beach trip, a splurge, or families who want the pool and sand in one place. Drawback: the extras add up. The $50 nightly resort fee plus $59 self-parking is $109 a night before tax, and the grounds fill with day visitors. Check-in is 4 p.m., checkout 11 a.m.

2. Glorietta Bay Inn

1630 Glorietta Blvd. This was John D. Spreckels' mansion, built in the early 1900s, and it sits a short walk from the beach and The Del. You choose between Mansion Rooms in the historic house and Contemporary Rooms in the newer buildings. The $40 nightly resort fee covers hot breakfast, Wi-Fi, the pool, beach gear and afternoon refreshments, which is more than most resort fees on the island buy you. Kayak lists rates from about $337, so plan on $$ to $$$. Best for couples who want The Del's location at a lower price and a quieter setting. Drawback: second-floor rooms are reached by stairs only.

3. The Baby Grand

1315 Orange Ave. Coronado's newest hotel opened May 14, 2026, on the site of the former La Avenida Inn. It comes from CH Projects, the group behind The Lafayette Hotel in North Park. There are 31 rooms with clamshell beds, in-room bars and large bathrooms with clawfoot tubs, plus a sand-bottom lagoon pool, the Night Hawk restaurant and Fallen Empire, a reservations-only champagne bar hidden off the lobby. Rooms start around $350 a night, so it lands in $$$. Best for couples who care about design and want dinner and drinks on site. Drawback: it is about a seven-minute walk to the beach, not on it, and as a brand-new hotel it has only a few months of guest reviews.

4. The Bower Coronado

1417 Orange Ave. A 39-room boutique hotel in the former Villa Capri, a block from The Del, with Dive, the island's only rooftop bar. Kayak lists rates from about $501, so $$$. It allows up to two dogs per room for a fee. Best for couples who want a lively base on Orange Avenue. Drawbacks: most rooms are about 250 square feet, there is no pool or spa, parking is valet only, and rooms can pick up noise from the rooftop and Orange Avenue.

5. 1906 Lodge

1060 Adella Ave. A small inn two blocks from Coronado Beach and The Del and one block from Orange Avenue. The inclusions are the selling point: free breakfast with mimosas, a 5-6 p.m. wine hour, free underground parking, beach chairs and umbrellas, and free bikes. Suites have fireplaces and spa tubs. It won a 2026 Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice award. Kayak lists rates from about $410, so $$$. Drawback: it is built around romance packages and couples, so families will get more from the bigger resorts.

6-8. Value picks near the beach and in the village

  • El Cordova Hotel, 1351 Orange Ave. Built in 1902 as a private mansion and turned into a Spanish-style hotel in 1930, it has about 43 rooms around a courtyard with a pool, plus one- and two-bedroom suites, many with kitchens. Miguel's Cocina is on site. Booking sites list rates from about $137, so $ to $$. Best for budget stays and longer visits a few minutes from The Del. Drawback: the hotel's site doesn't publish parking details, so ask before you book.
  • Coronado Beach Resort, 1415 Orange Ave. Studios, one-bedrooms (sleep 4) and two-bedrooms (sleep 6), every unit with a kitchenette, about 0.2 miles from the beach. Kayak lists rates from about $178, so $ to $$. Best for families who want to cook breakfast. Drawback: parking is $50 a night, one car per unit, first come first served, and no pets.
  • Crown City Inn, 520 Orange Ave. The best value on the island if you have a car: parking is free, beach cruisers are free, and there is a small heated pool and an on-site bistro open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It welcomes dogs and is a walk from the ferry. Booking sites list rates from about $128-245, so $ to $$. Drawback: the beach is about a 10-minute walk.

9. Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa

2000 Second St. A 16-acre bay-front resort facing the downtown skyline and the Coronado Bridge, with three outdoor pools and cottages with kitchenettes. The Ferry Landing is about a 10-minute stroll, so it is easy to reach downtown without a car. Booking sites list rates from about $221, so $$. Self-parking is $55 a day and valet $62. Best for families and anyone who wants the city view. Drawback: it is on the bay, not the ocean beach, so expect a short drive or bike ride to Coronado Beach, and it charges a mandatory daily resort fee.

10. Loews Coronado Bay Resort

4000 Coronado Bay Rd. A self-contained bay resort with an 80-slip marina, about 5 miles south of the village on the Silver Strand. A free shuttle runs every 30 minutes until 9 p.m. to downtown Coronado and Silver Strand State Beach, and there is a golf cart to the sand. Booking sites list rates from about $183, so $$. The resort fee is $42 plus tax a night, self-parking $47, valet $55, and pets are welcome for $150 a stay. A $220 million renovation is planned but had not started as of January 2026. Drawbacks: there is nothing within walking distance, and the ocean at Silver Strand State Beach was closed for most of 2025 because of water quality.
