Where's my SDG&E Climate Credit this year, and when is the next one?

There's no October credit in 2026. SDG&E paid the electric Climate Credit as $49.36 on August bills and $49.36 on September bills; gas customers got $32.58 in April. The next one is the gas credit, which moves to February in 2027.

The short version

  • 2026 electric credit: $49.36 in August plus $49.36 in September, $98.72 total (CPUC, SDG&E).
  • 2026 gas credit: $32.58, applied to April bills (SDG&E).
  • Until 2025 the electric credit came in April and October; in 2025 that was $81.38 each time (KPBS, Oct 2, 2025).
  • From 2027 the gas credit moves to February, per the CPUC; 2027 electric timing was not announced as of November 4, 2026.
  • Small businesses keep the old April and October schedule (SDG&E).

If you were waiting for the usual October Climate Credit on your SDG&E bill, it already came: the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) moved the 2026 residential electric credit to August and September. SDG&E says the move was meant to help in the summer months, when bills are highest. We checked the CPUC's Climate Credit page and SDG&E's own announcements on November 4, 2026. Why didn't I get a Climate Credit in October?

Before 2026 the electric credit was split between April and October. The CPUC says the 2026 residential electric credit was paid in high-bill months under a statewide affordability mandate, and SDG&E picked August and September. KPBS and Times of San Diego reported in April 2026 that the CPUC was due to vote on that plan on April 30; SDG&E later confirmed that the second $49.36 credit went out on September bills. Small businesses are on a different track and still get their credit in April and October.

When is the next SDG&E Climate Credit?

What's coming

  1. 01

    February 2027: gas credit

The CPUC says the natural gas credit moves from April to February starting in 2027, to line up with winter heating bills. The amount hadn't been published as of November 4, 2026.

  2. 02

    2027 electric credit: not announced

The CPUC page doesn't say yet when the 2027 electric credit will be paid or how much it will be. The commission held a workshop on 'Methods for Improving the Residential Climate Credit' on August 11, 2026.
