The short version
- Quartyard is at 1301 Market St. (13th and Market) in East Village, about a 10-minute walk from Petco Park.
- It opened in 2015 at 1102 Market St., was displaced by a high-rise, and reopened at its current lot around 2017.
- The 11,000-square-foot space is built from repurposed shipping containers, with a beer garden, dog run and stage.
- Its taps pour almost entirely San Diego craft beer, about 26 of them.
- Recent events include its 10th-anniversary concert (April 2025) and the East Village Blues Fest (June 13, 2026).
Quartyard began as a thesis project by three NewSchool of Architecture & Design graduates who wanted to turn vacant downtown land into a public gathering spot. In March 2015 they opened a beer garden, coffee bar, dog park and music stage made from shipping containers on an empty lot at 1102 Market Street. It drew about 9,000 visitors a month.
