The short version

  • Torrey Pines is a City of San Diego municipal course, so locals pay a fraction of what visitors pay.
  • Non-residents can book 8 to 90 days ahead online through the City's foreUP system, with a $50 booking fee per player.
  • Tee times inside 7 days are released at 7 p.m. and also carry the $50 fee.
  • No reservation? Join the virtual standby waitlist when you arrive; waits can run hours.
  • Third-party packages through torreypines.com add a coordination fee.

Torrey Pines hosted the U.S. Open in 2008 and 2021, hosts the PGA Tour's Farmers Insurance Open every winter, and is owned by the City of San Diego, which means anyone can play it. Getting a tee time is the hard part. Here's how the system works in 2026.

2026 greens fees (City of San Diego, effective January 1, 2026)

Three ways in for visitors

  1. 01

Book 8–90 days out on foreUP

  2. 02

    Grab a late release

Tee times for the coming week (0–7 days) open at 7 p.m. and also carry the $50 fee. Cancellations pop up here.

  3. 03

    Walk up and go standby

Check in at the starter and join the virtual waitlist. Singles fill gaps fastest; groups can wait two to five hours or more.
