San Diego Tourism Authority (sandiego.org), KPBS event listings and Eventbrite. Checked October 28 and November 2, 2026. 2027 dates, prices and venues are not announced.

The tourism board also listed a Nightmare on Normal Street party and the Black Pearl Halloween Party Cruise aboard the California Spirit for Oct 31, 2026. Costumes: none of the 2026 event pages we read listed a costume or mask policy, they only encouraged dressing up. Venues set their own door rules, so if your costume includes a prop weapon, a full face mask or something bulky, check with the venue or crawl organizer first.

Getting home

Three ways home from the Gaslamp

  • MTS trolley and bus

    What we know
No Halloween 2027 service announced. For 2026, MTS posted no Halloween late-night notice (its news page had nothing after Oct 22)
    Best for
Home along a trolley line, leaving earlier in the night
    Do this first
Check the last train time in the MTS trip planner or call (619) 557-4555
    Catch
MTS has run extra late-night trolleys on past Halloweens (2015, for example), but did not announce any for 2026
  • Uber or Lyft

    What we know
Pickup ban on 5th Ave, Fri and Sat 10 p.m.–3 a.m.; 14 designated pickup spots nearby
    Best for
    Any address, late
    Do this first
Walk to a marked pickup spot before ordering
    Catch
Expect long waits late; we could not find fares or surge data
  • Driving

    What we know
In 2026 the Zombie Crawl listed $12 parking with a free overnight option
    Best for
Only if you are not drinking
    Do this first
Park, then leave the car overnight; do not drive after crawling
    Catch
Overnight spot may be the only one you can pay for

A plan that works

  1. 01

    Buy tickets ahead

The Zombie Crawl page says it sells out every year, and refunds are not offered.

  2. 02

    Eat first, arrive early

Crawl organizers said to start between 6 and 8 p.m.; ID lines build up and some free entry ended at 10 p.m.

  3. 03

Pick your ride home before the first drink

Trolley before the late rush, or a rideshare from a marked pickup spot. Save that spot's address.

  4. 04

Keep your keys for the morning

Leave the car in a garage overnight rather than gambling on being sober enough to drive.
